Andrea Shehi studies violin with David Colwell and Rachel Sandman. Previously, she has studied with Alice Joy Lewis. Last summer, she was a member of the Camerata Orchestra: a featured ensemble which appeared on Kansas Public Radio on a program called Classic Live.
Andrea’s first orchestral solo debut was at age nine. Her accomplishments include receiving recognition as the MTNA Kansas division winner and the Outstanding Chamber Music Group Award at the Texas Strings Festival.
In past summers, she has attended and performed at Sound Encounters, Stringwood Chamber Music Festival, and a pit orchestra for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City Summer program. At Stringwood Chamber Music Festival, she worked extensively with the Artaria String Quartet and traveled throughout the Midwest to give performances. In Iowa, Andrea had a rare opportunity to perform Dvorak’s American Quartet at his summer home in Spillville. She has been selected for masterclasses with the Borromeo String Quartet, Brian Lewis, Kevin Lawrence, Geoff Nuttall, and Felicia Moye. Since age five, she has continuously committed her time to performing for senior residents at a local retirement center. Outside of music, she enjoys journaling and swimming.
