Danielle Hoisington is a sophomore at Olathe East High School. She began playing the violin at the age of 7, studying under Susan Fuller and LaVonne McDaniel. She currently studies with Elizabeth Suh-Lane. Danielle has been concertmaster or co-concertmaster in the Kansas City Youth Symphony for five years. While in the KCYS’s Academy Orchestra in 2008, she and her duet partner won the Concerto Competition. This year, she is also the recipient of the Overland Park Concerto Competition and will perform with them in May and June. One of her highlights as a violinist includes traveling, as a 7th grader, with the Olathe East High School orchestra to New York City and playing at Carnegie Hall. When she’s not practicing or studying, Dani enjoys reading and writing. She plans to study music in college.
