Jessica Borth, 18, was born November 11, 1988 in Olathe, Kansas. She is the daughter of Jim and Dianne Borth, and the sibling of Shane, Michaela and Briana, all alumni of the Kansas City Youth Symphony program and past OCOA concerto competition winners. She is a Senior at Olathe North High School, and is involved in many school activities. During her high school years Jessica participated in ONHS Varsity soccer, Cheerleading, Drill Team, Band, Orchestra, Leadership Team, Latin Club, Honor Roll, History Club, and many small ensembles. Outside of school, Jessica is involved in the Kansas City Youth Symphony where she sits as concert master of the Senior Symphony, and is a winner of its 2007 Concerto Competition. She also teaches private lessons to 25 students. Jessica started playing the violin at the age of four under the tutelage of Alice Joy Lewis in Ottawa, Kansas, and is currently studying with Tiberius Klausner, former concert master of the Kansas City Symphony. She has participated in master classes with world renowned players such as Almita Vamos, Chathrine Cho, Andres Cardenea, Stephan Shipps and many more. Jessica has attended several music camps, such as the Kansas City Chamber Music Program, Sound Encounters, the International Academy of the Arts in Plzen, Czech Republic, and the Aspen Music Festival. This summer, she will be attended the Summer Music Institute in Washington, D.C., with the National Symphony Orchestra. Jessica’s favorite thing to do is play chamber music, and recently performed in a piano quintet for the Fischoff Competition. Jessica has decided to pursue a career in music and keep doing the thing she loves.
