The Olathe Community Orchestra is made up of 40 to 50 community volunteers for the purpose of continuing the art of classical orchestral music for the enjoyment of the community of Olathe, Kansas.

This year's winner of the OCO High School Concerto Competition is violinist Yen-Ping Chen, a senior from Olathe Northwest, who will perform the first movement of Mozart's G major concerto with us on April 27.

LOVE SONGS WARM OCO AUDIENCE
Nearly 200 fans of passionate music braved frigid temperatures February 10 as the Olathe Community Orchestra presented its winter concert, "The Food of Love," at Grace United Methodist Church. Concertgoers were treated to sultry popular and classical love songs, performed by premier vocalists Brian Steele, Katie Goyer, Paul Hartfield, and Laure Ronnebaum, all accompanied by the orchestra. Selections included such timeless romantic classics as If I Loved You, With A Song In My Heart, Some Enchanted Evening, Can't Help Lovin' That Man Of Mine, and My Funny Valentine.
OCO TO PRESENT ALL AMERICAN FINALE
The Olathe Community Orchestra will close its 2007-08 season with a special program of all American music at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, at the Osborne Performing Arts Center in the Millcreek Vocational School, 311 E. Park Street in downtown Olathe. The free concert is to include the Symphony No. 2, "Mysterious Mountain," by Alan Hovhaness; four dance episodes from "Rodeo" by Aaron Copland; and selections from "West Side Story" by Leonard Bernstein; and will feature the yet-to-be-named winner of the orchestra's High School Concerto Competition. A complimentary punch-and-cookies reception will be offered at intermission. BRIAN STEELE TO PERFORM WITH OLATHE ORCHESTRA
Former Kansas City Lyric Opera resident baritone Brian Steele and a host of area operatic luminaries will join the Olathe Community Orchestra for a concert of pop and classical love songs at 2:00 on Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 Ridgeview Road in Olathe.
The free program, titled "The Food of Love," will feature Steele along with vocalists Katie Goyer, Laure Ronnebaum, and Paul Hartfield, and will include a complimentary punch-and-cookies reception at intermission.
On the program are such timeless romantic classics as If I Loved You, With A Song In My Heart, Some Enchanted Evening, Can't Help Lovin' That Man Of Mine, My Funny Valentine, and many others.
