For the first time since 2020, the Olathe Community Orchestra was pleased to showcase a talented high school student on our 2022 spring concert! Violinist Liora McCoy, a senior at Olathe West High School, auditioned for and won the Olathe Community Orchestra’s Annual High School Scholarship Competition. The OCO was forced to cancel its 2020-2021 season and scholarship competition due to the pandemic.

About Liora McCoy
Liora McCoy is a senior at Olathe West High School and has played the violin since she was ten years old. She has been the concertmistress of the concert orchestra and the chamber orchestra during her time at Olathe West. She also is a soprano in the school's chamber choir and has been an avid member of the Olathe Youth Symphony for the past six years. Liora will be attending the University of Kansas next year to study Music Performance, and hopes to pursue a career as a soloist.
OCO High School Scholarship Competition

Past winners have included violinists, violists, cellists, percussionists, a bassist, and a flutist.
